Dr. Stéphane Bilodeau is one of the co-founders of Smart Phases Inc., Chairman of its Board, and Chief Technology Officer. He is a distinguished academic, cleantech engineer, and sustainability advocate with over two decades of experience in advancing energy systems, bioengineering, artificial intelligence (AI), and fluid dynamics. Holding a Ph.D. in fluid mechanics and advanced thermodynamics, Stéphane’s work focuses on integrating clean technologies, phase change materials, AI, and the Internet of Things (IoT) to address pressing challenges in sustainability and health and safety.
In academia, Stéphane has dedicated more than 20 years to teaching and mentoring future engineers at the Université de Sherbrooke's Mechanical Engineering Department. Currently, he serves as an Adjunct Professor in the Bioengineering Department at McGill University, contributing to the Continuous Program Evaluation and Improvement Committee. His academic roles highlight his commitment to fostering innovation and enhancing engineering education to prepare students for a rapidly evolving technological landscape.
As the Chief Science Officer at IBEC (Integrated Bioscience and Built Environment Consortium), Stéphane leads initiatives that bridge the gap between bioscience, technology, and the built environment. Stéphane is a dedicated member of Engineers Associations across Canada. He serves as Chairman of the Public Affairs Advisory Committee at Engineers Canada, representing over 300,000 engineers nationwide. Additionally, he chairs the Scholarships and Awards Committee for the FOIQ (Fondation de l’Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec), supporting the professional growth and recognition of engineering talent. His leadership in these roles underscores his passion for policy, education, and the future of the engineering profession.
Beyond academia and professional associations, Stéphane is the Founder and Chief Technology Officer of Smart Phases Inc., a company dedicated to developing advanced clean technologies.
